US & GLOBAL: The U.S. recently seized an aircraft belonging to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. The plane is a Dassault Falcon 900EX, valued at approximately $13 million.

According to reports, Maduro’s aircraft was seized after allegations were made by the U.S. Department of Justice eluding to the unlawful purchase of the plane.
Today, the U.S. Justice Department alleges that the aircraft was purchased in violation of U.S. sanctions and export controls.
U.S. DOJ indicates , further, that the aircraft was acquired through a Caribbean-based shell company by individuals affiliated with Maduro.
After the location of the plane was discovered the plane was seized in the Dominican Republic and subsequently transported to Florida.
A number of international laws are associated with DOJ actions including the broader U.S. efforts made to enforce sanctions against the Maduro regime, which has been accused of various human rights abuses and corruption.
