Linda Sun, a former aide to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, was recently arrested along with her husband, Chris Hu, on charges of acting as unregistered agents for the Chinese government.
Prosecutors allege that Sun used her position to block representatives of the Taiwanese government from accessing high-level officials in New York. The allegations include efforts by Sun to alter state government messaging to favor China, and efforts involving Sun’s attempts at facilitating a trip to China for a high-level New York politician.
Sun and her husband are also facing charges of visa fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy to violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act. The FBI conducted a raid on the Sun’s Long Island home as part of the investigation.
Events surrounding former New York Governor Kathy Hochul aide, Linda Sun’s enfranchisement of China continue to be investigated and, as a result, more details are expected to emerge as the case against Sun progresses.
