Meta; The Name Formerly Facebook, Bans Russia’s RT News Media & Several Associates

US & GLOBAL: Following an apparent breach in policy, the Meta media company recently banned the Russian state media outlet RT (formerly Russia Today). According to the report made on Tuesday, the ban included several other related entities due to their involvement in foreign interference activities.

Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, took swift action to prevent the Russian news publisher and associated forces from gaining control ofthe major social media news


The decision made by Meta officials followed accusations from U.S. officials that RT was conducting covert information warfare operations globally.


Meta's ban was specifically related to these activities and not directly connected to any threats made by President Putin against the opposition.
