NATION: The White House’s efforts on gun control have indeed faced some controversy and challenges. Recent initiatives initiative, established during Biden’s campaign, focused on community violence intervention as a key component of gun violence prevention. Despite efforts made by the White House which have continued to intercede in the public use of fire arms, some critics have argued that the 18-month timeline is too short to see measurable results.

Establishment of the Office of Gun Violence Prevention: In September 2023, President Biden established the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
The purpose of the WHOGVP is aimed at reducing gun violence through executive and legislative actions, such as the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. In regard to addressing gun violence US Candidaye for President, Vice President Kamala Harris has stated her plans for ensuring the ultimate elimination of IS gun violence primarily aiming at ending the use of AR-15 rifles and similar fire arms.
Harris, recently questioned by National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) commented in regard to the Biden Harris Administration’s being the most “ fervently anti-gun violence administration…” in U.S. history.

In regard to the current situation involving gun violence in the US, some gun safety proponents feel that more aggressive measures, like banning assault weapons and implementing universal background checks, are still needed.
