STATE & NATIONAL: In a recent speech delivered by Texas Education Commissioner, Mike Morath, the community located in the Tuloso-Midway ISD State of the District event was privileged to learning more regarding several key points about the current state of education in Texas.

During his speech, Texas Education Commissioner Morath emphasized the importance of minimizing distractions in the classroom. He supported the district’s new no-cellphone policy, citing research that shows cellphones can significantly disrupt cognitive processes and learning.
Emphasizing the current concerns surrounding education in Texas, Commissioner Morath discussed the use of AI in grading, which has been a topic of debate. The Commissioner assured that there are robust quality control systems in place to ensure accurate grading, despite some districts filing lawsuits against this practice.
While concerns for the safety and protection of students was a matter of urgency discussed by Commissioner Morath, the district has implemented major security upgrades to enhance student safety.
The event, also, highlighted various educational programs, including a dual language program at the primary school level and opportunities for high school students to earn degrees from multiple colleges
As a means for involving the Tuloso-Midway community, the luncheon served as a platform for community members to come together and support the district, with over 500 attendees.
The Commissioner’s talking points reflect ongoing effort to improve educational outcomes and ensure a safe, effective learning environment for students
