On this day, US President Joe Biden bestowed the President’s Medal of Freedom to individuals who have demonstrated
Biden announced the 19 Americans whose relentlessness, curiosity, ingenuity and Hope have kept the faith in a better tomorrow.
Among the 19 recipients are Father Greg Boyle who changed lives through gang intervention as a Jesuit Pruest for 4 decades. Judy Shephard demonstrated courage following her LGBTQ dons under. The family of Medger Evers; daughter Dreams Evers seeking Justice for Medger Evers and for others. Opal Lee; by whom June Teenth was formed into a federal holiday. Dr Clarence B Jones; lawyer & speech writer for Dr Martin Luther King. Phil Donahue; helped change hearts & minds steering the nation’s discourse & spine to out better angels. Michael Bloomberg , former New York City Mayor, Katlyn Ladecky, now 27, won 10 Olympic medals . Jim Thorpe; 1st Native American to win Olympic medal received by Grandson Lyn Thorpe. Dr Elen Ochoa, first Hispanic Smerican female Astronsut. Dr Frank Lauderburg, Theresa Romero; First Latino to become President of a national union, Michele Yoe; first Asian actor to win an Oscar, Elizabeth Dole, former U.S. Senator , Public Servant, Al Gore earned Nobel Prize for fighting climate change, John Kerry, former US Secretary of State, first Predidentisl envoy for global climate change, former Baltimore Mayor & historical greatest U.S. Speaker ofthe House, Nancy Pelosi, Jim Clyburn, guiding S Carolina and the nation as an American statesman, Dr. Jane Rigbey; astrophysicist commander. President Biden took the next step to adorn recipients with the Predident’s Medal of Freedom.
