US-Russian Prisoner Swap Successful In Returning Gershkovich & Whelan


US & GLOBAL:Today, the report from the U.S. National Security fibidion of the U.S. government sheds light on the most recent developments involving. US hostages hrld in Russiian prisons. On Thursday, the US was able to conduct a prisoner swap with Russia thst brought Evan Gershkovich and Paul Whelan. back home to the United States.

Following an agreement between the U.S. Berlin and Moscow, Washington reports that 12 Russian prisoners were traded, today—Berlin releasing Vladim Krasikov a Russian convict.


Todsy, a total of four Americans were released from Russian prison and returned to the U.S. Prior to the swap, Russian held 12 prisoners including Gershkovich, Whelan and two other from the U.S.


According to the report , 2 Russian prisoners, previously becoming U.S. citizens were released, however, electing to remain citizens of the United States.


The U.S., 4, Germany’s 12 and Russia’s 8 prisoner exchanges were an historical success.
