Vice President Harris Meeting w/Kenyan President Ruto Offered Reconnection To Her 2023 Visit




NATION: During a meeting with Kenya President William Ruto, Vice President Kamala Harris spoke in reference to her visit to Africa in 2023.   Harris traveled to the eastern hemisphere to engaged in spectacular informational events along with husband, Doug Emhoff.  Together, the Harris team met with political leaders and tech entrepreneurs in a number of African nations—one of which was Kenya. This week, as the Vice President Harris addressed the meeting to which President and Mrs. Ruto were welcomed, she discussed the nation of Kenya, stating that "the African continent of Africa represents the future of our world."


Harris spoke in regard to the presence of business incubators in Kenya where young business owners plan for executing the advent of new technologies and developing concepts that will improve the supply chain.  Harris was entertained by African musicians whose Afrocentric styles are leading musical trends around the world.   Harris stated that, while in Kenya, she visited with climate advocates, small business owners, women activists, farmers and students.  In reaction to the impression taken from her visit with the people of Kenya, the Vice President stated, I will add: Any leader that ignores the continent of Africa is doing so at their own peril.  Harris expressed her excitement about the spirit of innovation in Kenya.  The Vice President stated That there is "No country on the continent more embodies this spirit of innovation than Kenya." The Vice President pointed to the ecosystem in Kenya. The Silicon Savannah is a $1 billion technology ecosystem that develops technology that will address areas from the climate crisis to financial inclusion to healthcare. The technology developed throughout the ecosystem helps innovators solve problems pollutions that occurs through manufacturing of plastic. The Vice President provided information on the developments that have been established improvement

by the taking the following steps: To address wealth inequity, innovators at M-PESA help low-income people pay and repay microloans, and they have revolutionized the mobile payments industry. 

  • To help solve the problem and challenge of pollution coming from plastics and to address threats to marine ecosystems, a Kenyan startup now converts aquatic invasive plants into biodegradable plastic. 


  • To tackle water security and, in particular, scarcity and drought, a Kenyan startup now turns humidity from the air into clean drinking water. 


  • To help his deaf niece communicate, a Kenyan data scientist invented a smart glove to convert sign language into audible speech through a mobile app.  (Applause.) 


  • To — and to make healthcare more accessible and affordable, AI is now being used for medical image scans and chatbots are providing healthcare advice.

Harris stated that President Ruto has accomplished a number of the plans he set out to achieve as he campaigned in Kenya. Now Kenya has been recognized among the world 's economic centers and the most progressive and proficient in digital innovation In an agreement involving the partnership between the United States and Kenya, Vice President Harris and President Ruto pledged their commitment to ensuring that proceeding "...relations are grounded in shared values and a shared vision for the future."
