A replacement for the later Senatr Dianne Feinstein was made this week by US Vice President Kamala Harris. Senator Laphonsa Butler will serve as the replacement for the r Dianne Feinstein who died earlier in the month of October after a lengthy illness.

Last week, prior to her swearing in by the Vice President, Laphonsa Butler stood as California Governor Gavin Newsom's top pick to replace the former, late Senator, Feinstein. This week, following the final stages of her becoming the first black LGBTQ female to seat on the US Senate, Butler issues a statement indicating that she will not run for the Senate seat in 2024.
This week, the comments made by Butler provide the the news of the selected Senate replacement's soundness of reasoning for refraining from the run for the US Senate seat for the state of California in 2924. Butler stated that she gave serious consideration to her life over the last 2 weeks considering how she would have her life run and decided that the US Senate would not provide for her a satisfying life choice.
During her statement made to the news media, Butler stated that her decision may land with some surprise to many. The interim Senator indicated that the power that is endowed by an elected official is seldom given up, Butler stated that her decision is, however, the right one for her.
Senator Butler will serve out the remainder of the seat held by the late Senator Feinstein. As the November election rolls around there may be others who are considered as being quite well suited for handling the post. Among those named prior to Butler's selection were Democratic Reps. Adam Schiff, Katie Porter and Barbara Lee.
